- Payment Information: For paid partner subscriptions and transactions. We use Stripe as our payment processor and do not store full credit card details on our servers.
- Communication Data: Messages, check-ins, and interactions with your accountability partners to provide the service and improve matching algorithms.

1.2 Non-Personal Information

We collect non-personal information including:

- Usage Data: Pages visited, features used, time spent on the platform, and interaction patterns.
- Device Information: IP address, browser type, device type, and operating system.
- Cookies: We use cookies and similar technologies to maintain your session, remember preferences, and analyze platform usage.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

- Match you with compatible accountability partners based on your profile and preferences
- Facilitate communication between accountability partners
- Process payments and manage subscriptions
- Send daily check-in reminders and weekly sprint notifications

- Improve our AI matching algorithm and platform features
- Analyze usage patterns to enhance user experience
- Detect and prevent fraud or abuse

3. Information Sharing and Disclosure

We share your information only in the following circumstances:

- With Your Accountability Partners: Your profile information (name, project description, goals, and experience level) is shared with matched partners. Your payment information is never shared.
- With Service Providers: We use trusted third-party services including Stripe (payments), MongoDB (data storage), Resend (email delivery), and hosting providers. These providers are bound by confidentiality agreements.
- For Legal Compliance: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of AccountPal, our users, or others.
- Business Transfers: If AccountPal is acquired or merged, your information may be transferred to the new entity.

We do NOT sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Escrow and Payment Processing

For paid partnerships, funds are held in escrow through Stripe until the end of each accountability sprint. Payment information is processed and stored securely by Stripe in accordance with PCI DSS standards. We do not have access to your full payment card details.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 90 days, except where we are legally required to retain certain data for compliance purposes.

Partnership communication history may be retained in anonymized form to improve our matching algorithms.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

- Access and update your profile information at any time through your account settings
- Request a copy of your personal data
- Delete your account and associated data
- Opt out of non-essential email communications
- Withdraw consent for data processing (this may limit your ability to use the Service)
